Description
The Connectix OM3 SWA Loose Tube Fibre Optic Cable is a 50/125µm multimode fibre cable designed for external installations where mechanical protection and direct burial capability are required. Its steel wire armoured (SWA) construction provides protection against physical damage and rodent attack, making it suitable for underground and exposed outdoor fibre routes.
The cable is built around a central jelly-filled loose tube containing up to 24 optical fibres. Aramid yarn strength members provide additional tensile support, while the galvanised steel wire armour and dual LSOH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jackets help protect the cable in demanding installation environments.
With a maximum tensile strength of 4000N and crush resistance of 4000N per 10cm, the cable is designed to withstand the stresses associated with pulling, burial and external infrastructure projects. The moisture-resistant construction also makes it suitable for long-term outdoor deployment.
The cable is compatible with standard OM3 multimode fibre connectivity and remains suitable for use in legacy multimode network infrastructure. Installation requirements include a minimum bending radius of 12.5 times the cable diameter, increasing to 25 times the diameter when under load.
