Description
This 1G 1000BASE-BX-U BiDi SFP optical transceiver supports Gigabit Ethernet connections over a single strand of singlemode fibre at distances of up to 10km. It transmits at 1310nm and receives at 1490nm, using a simplex LC/UPC interface to carry traffic in both directions over the same fibre.
Designed for compatible 1G SFP ports, the module is suitable for switch-to-switch links and connections to routers or servers. Typical uses include enterprise fibre uplinks, campus networks and connections between communications rooms. Its bidirectional design requires just one fibre strand per link, helping make better use of available fibre capacity.
The transceiver supports a 1Gbps Ethernet connection with a 1.25Gbps optical line rate. Its compact, hot-pluggable SFP format allows installation and replacement in supported equipment without powering down the host, helping simplify network maintenance and upgrades.
Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM), also known as Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM), is supported for checking transceiver operating information through compatible host equipment. This provides useful diagnostic information when commissioning links or investigating connectivity problems.
Use with 9/125µm singlemode fibre and a complementary 1000BASE-BX-D module transmitting at 1490nm and receiving at 1310nm at the opposite end. Two BX-U modules will not form a working link. Achievable transmission distance depends on the loss of the complete fibre link, including connectors and splices.
Transceivers are coded in-house and dispatched from our UK warehouse. Select the compatibility option required for your equipment. Check that the host port supports 1G optical SFP operation and the selected transceiver coding before installation. If you need help choosing, contact us with your equipment make and model before ordering.

Stand out with custom branding
Make your transceivers easily identifiable!
We can design and print custom labels for your transceivers, incorporating your company logo, part codes, asset references or project details.
Whether you need your own branding or clearer identification for installation and maintenance, we can tailor the label layout to your requirements.
We are able to provide this service free of charge due to our in-house production team.
Contact our team once you place your order to discuss your artwork and the information you’d like included.
Please note: complex artwork production may add 1-2 days to your lead time.
Tested for reliable connectivity
Compatibility, optical performance and stability checks help ensure your transceivers are ready for reliable operation. We perform the following tests on all our compatible 1G LH/LX transceivers for your peace of mind.
Host interoperability
Checks that the transceiver is recognised by the tested host and establishes a link with a complementary BiDi module.
Ethernet traffic
Passes Ethernet traffic through the working fibre link to check data transfer and identify packet loss.
Bit error ratio (BERT)
Uses a known test pattern to measure errors in received data and assess transmission accuracy.
Optical eye diagram
Examines the transmitted optical signal for waveform quality, timing variation and compliance with the applicable eye mask.
Receiver sensitivity
Reduces incoming optical power to check how reliably the receiver detects weaker signals.
Diagnostic verification
Checks that supported host equipment can read diagnostic information such as temperature and transmitted and received optical power.
