Description

This 1G 1000BASE-SX SFP optical transceiver supports Gigabit Ethernet connections over multimode fibre at distances of up to 550m, depending on the fibre type and link conditions. Operating at a nominal wavelength of 850nm, it uses a duplex LC interface with separate transmit and receive fibres.

Designed for compatible 1G SFP ports, the module is suitable for switch-to-switch links and connections to routers or servers. Typical uses include enterprise fibre uplinks, data centre connections and links between communications rooms where multimode fibre is installed.

The transceiver supports a 1Gbps Ethernet connection with a 1.25Gbps optical line rate. Its compact, hot-pluggable SFP format allows installation and replacement in supported equipment without powering down the host, helping simplify network maintenance and upgrades.

Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM), also known as Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM), is supported for checking transceiver operating information through compatible host equipment. This provides useful diagnostic information when commissioning links or investigating connectivity problems.

Use with duplex multimode fibre cabling and a matching Gigabit SX optical interface at the opposite end. The maximum 550m reach requires suitable 50/125µm multimode fibre. Achievable distance depends on the fibre’s modal bandwidth and the loss of the complete link, including connectors and splices.

Transceivers are coded in-house and dispatched from our UK warehouse. Select the compatibility option required for your equipment. Check that the host port supports 1G optical SFP operation and the selected transceiver coding before installation. If you need help choosing, contact us with your equipment make and model before ordering.

Stand out with custom branding

Make your transceivers easily identifiable!

We can design and print custom labels for your transceivers, incorporating your company logo, part codes, asset references or project details.

Whether you need your own branding or clearer identification for installation and maintenance, we can tailor the label layout to your requirements.

We are able to provide this service free of charge due to our in-house production team.

Contact our team once you place your order to discuss your artwork and the information you’d like included.

Please note: complex artwork production may add 1-2 days to your lead time.

Tested for reliable connectivity

Compatibility, optical performance and stability checks help ensure your transceivers are ready for reliable operation. We perform the following tests on all our compatible 1G LH/LX transceivers for your peace of mind.

Host interoperability

Checks module recognition, link establishment and operating information in the intended host equipment.

Ethernet traffic

Passes Ethernet traffic through the transceiver to check successful transmission and reception at its specified operating speed.

Bit error ratio (BERT)

Compares transmitted and received test patterns to measure the proportion of bits received incorrectly.

Optical eye diagram

Analyses the transmitted optical signal, including average optical power, extinction ratio and signal margin.

Receiver sensitivity

Checks reception as the incoming optical signal is reduced, assessing performance at low received power levels.

Diagnostic verification

Checks that the host equipment can read the module’s diagnostic information and reviews its reported status.
